The study, which was conducted by the F.A.Z. Institute and the International School of Management (Dortmund) in cooperation with the Faktenkontor PR agency in Hamburg, set out to evaluate approx. 2000 hospitals in Germany. The result: overall, including all the hospitals evaluated, the Heart and Diabetes Center NRW (HDZ NRW), Bad Oeynhausen, came 16th. But taking into consideration only hospitals specialized in cardiac and/or diabetic medicine, the HDZ NRW came 1st.
"We are every pleased with this fantastic award", CEO Dr. Karin Overlack and Prof. Dr. Jan Gummert, Medical Director of the HDZ NRW, stressed. "It means well deserved recognition for our employees, who dedicate themselves day in, day out, and in all areas of our hospital, to providing individual patients with high-end interdisciplinary medicine."
In comparison to previous investigations, this study was the first to evaluate both official quality reports from the hospitals themselves and data from public internet portals and patient surveys, such as those conducted by the Techniker health insurance company. It thus combines clinical, hospital-related facts with subjective levels of satisfaction. The study includes patient recommendations, as well as feedback regarding medical treatment, consultation quality, administrative processes and hospital equipment. All data were collected in February 2018 and then merged with the quality reports.
