Achieve your professional goal: quality of life and work.
We are the Heart and Diabetes Center North Rhine-Westphalia – or the HDZ NRW for short – and are at home in Bad Oeynhausen. It is easy to locate Bad Oeynhausen on the map, but whether or not Bad Oeynhausen is for you, you will have to discover for yourself (maybe with your partner and/or family). Here we would like to give you a little taster of what the town and region have to offer.
Bad Oeynhausen is situated between the Werre and Weser rivers; romantic and natural, with good views of the Wiehengebirge hills, the Weserbergland hills and the Teutoburger forest, but also boasting urban life, turn-of-the-century architecture, parks and outdoor cafés. Bad Oeynhausen is located in the middle of the Minden-Lübbecke district and has made a name for itself across Germany as a renowned center for medicine. This is the place to find medical and therapeutic expertise. The town has 50,000 inhabitants. A look at the map will reveal numerous green areas – especially the spa park, the Oeynhausener Schweiz woods and the wooded areas along the River Were – bringing the town closer to nature, even at its heart.
Annual cultural highlights in August are the “Parklichter” lights in the spa park, including an open air concert and a large firework display, as well as the international “Poetische Quellen” festival of literature in the grounds of the Aqua Magica gardens. Also very popular are the Spring market in April and the Christmas market in December with its skating rink in the town center. Bad Oeynhausen shows off its sporty side with a championship for professional German horseback riders in the Siel park every year.
A splendid network of cycle paths provides the perfect opportunity to explore the “Mühlenkreis” region with its many windmills and other tourist attractions, before visiting the “Bali Therme” spa complex, including some of the largest sauna facilities in Germany, to relax and be pampered. Theater, variety shows, cabaret and music – Bad Oeynhausen has a wealth of possibilities just waiting to be discovered and experienced.
If you would like to find out more about the town as a place to live, we recommend that you contact the tourist information office (Tel: +49 5731 1300) and maybe book a guided tour.
