The Heart and Diabetes Center NRW (HDZ NRW) currently employs more than 660 nurses, male and female. They look after our patients around the clock in three shifts, working full or part-time.
Nurses look after and administer to the needs of sick and care-dependent patients. They perform measures ordered by physicians, assist during examinations and treatments, and document patient data.
Special benefits for nurses at the HDZ NRW:
- we offer performance-oriented remuneration according to TVöD
- we offer an attractive working environment in highly motivated teams
- we offer structured induction with mentors and very good further training opportunities.
The HDZ NRW offers vocational traineeships in nursing in cooperation with Lukas Hospital Bünde. Within the framework of this cooperation, the HDZ NRW in Bad Oeynhausen is responsible for 10 trainees per intake year and Lukas Hospital Bünde for 15 trainees per intake year. The vocational training center for nursing at Lukas Hospital Bünde therefore has a total of 75 traineeship places spread over three intake years.
Vocational training for nurses is regulated throughout Germany by the nursing directive which came into effect on 16.07.2003. It takes three years and, for us, begins every year on October 1st.
The requirements for a place on this traineeship scheme are good school-leaving qualifications (entrance to sixth-form college), the physical ability to nurse, and a minimum age of 18 years at the beginning of the traineeship (17 years in exceptional cases).
You should also be interested in working with people, be reliable, flexible, resilient and dextrous, and be able to handle criticism.
N.B.: Prior to embarking on a traineeship we recommend a period of work experience in a hospital to familiarize yourself with the nursing profession and all it entails.
Theory and practice
Training to become a nurse involves at least 2,100 hours of theory and 2,500 hours of practice. The theoretical part of the training takes place in blocks at the vocational training center for nursing in Bünde. Teaching follows a cross-discipline integrative curriculum.
The practical part of the training involves a variety of fields and locations. In addition to the HDZ NRW, these include Lukas Hospital Bünde, the Diakonie wards in the church district of Herford, as well as rehabilitation clinics in Bad Oeynhausen. The HDZ NRW provides instructors and mentors for the practical training units in its departments.
Please see the flyer Ausbildung in der Gesundheits- und Krankenpflege for further information about training content and organization.
The requirements which employees within the healthcare system are expected to fulfill are liable to change, making retraining and further training not the exception, but the rule.
In order to promote and further develop the skills of its staff, the HDZ NRW hosts many different events, including different further training measures for nurses. Please see the Fortbildungskatalog for further details.
