The new Institute for Telemedicine has installed an infrastructure for data transfer and will handle patient data in accordance with medical secrecy obligations. Telemedicine thus facilitates direct diagnoses in patients' homes.
The data will remain in the care of attending physicians or be organized and stored by the Heart and Diabetes Center NRW. Findings will be discussed by experts working at our hospital. Following this process the data will be made accessible to the responsible family practitioners and hospital specialists. The advantages of this system:
- shorter data transfer times
- better coordination and therapy planning
- avoidance of repeat examinations
- shorter and more efficient in-patient hospitalization times.
All diagnostic images will be made available for further therapy in their original digital form. The use of such electronic patient files within an integrative care structure will provide crucial advantages for prevention, therapy and diagnostics.
